24

Aaron Ralston but nothing against timothy, he preserved and got out of a situation he wasn't suppose to get out of. he also has returned there to face it and see what he had done.

23

this is hard to choose one but social skills is my top one. I think this because if you have none you are going no where, you could be the smartest engineer out there but if you have no social skills you wont have the job no one will want you. you need this in life to be successful and live

22

wasn't shocked I got a medium score because teacher only got 75. but I need to improve it because of what I said below. the test results are good because if you get low you can improve and try to work on it and if you get high then just do your thing

#21 emotional intelligence

I didn't know about this very much. knowing it now I am shocked how big of a deal it is and how important it actually is in life. I will take lesson from this and learn from it. my score was low so I would love to improve it, I believe it will help me become successful. people are becoming more aware and it is something that needs teaching

#20 Technology

technology will be everything and anything, you will need it to survive and to go anywhere, we will be so advanced that we cant even imagine what could come
. it will b a good thing because it will be very efficient

#19 Real Demand Virtual Solutions

Taxi - the taxis will always need to be around they are essential
I believe trains that can be in the air will be extremely useful and it will be main way to travel
the factories will be mostly robots and the jobs of so many will be taken
banks will be easier than ever and will seem easy to steal but it wont
uber is really cool and if people want to do it then that's good for them

#18 Top jobs in Canada

I wouldn't want to do any of these jobs. I cant relate to these

#17 the keystone pipeline....

1. what is it?
The Keystone Pipeline System is an oil pipeline system in Canada and the United States, commissioned since 2010.
2. why is it controversial?
can cause global warming sooner than expected, people are also concerned if it were to spill or crack
3. in your opinion, should it be built?
yes it should be built because we should risk this, also it will help Canada make money

#16 the world of work...three questions

1. what (in your opinion) constitutes a good job? the perfect job would be a crazy high salary and a job you really enjoy

2. what would you realistically like yourself to be doing employment-wise  ten years from now? in ten year employment-wise I see myself working for a sporting organization doing something for that company

3. why does that seem like a good choice for you? I am very interested in this and it will let me enjoy work and make a average salary

#15 serial wrap up

A retrial should be the next thing that happens, because the evidence isn't good enough from the first trial. There was a lot more that can be investigated now, it could possibly get Adnan out of jail.  From the first trial to the second they could get the DNA at Leakin Park and also get Jay to talk again because he changed his story way too much and it is hard to believe him. Also check the phone call times again and double check everything because Adnan isn't confirmed guilty to me quite yet.

#14 apple watch

I could see myself buying one. I do not see myself buying one as of right now. I would wait a year or two, then I would most likely purchase one of these. This way the watch will have new software updates and the glitches and problems will be decreased. Also I will have better knowledge of the watch as I have next to none right now.

#13 not guilty one week, guilty the next

Sarah Koenig took a weird slow approach at tackling the Adnan case. Sarah wasn't manipulative but also wasn't exactly fair in how she handled it. Example is how she hid something in the story until the later podcast which was pretty important. She should have included that information the earliest she could have.

#12 10 facts about the Depression (not "depression", "The Depression")......well. sort of...list

- The Great Depression peaked between 1932 and 1933.
- The biggest hit song of 1932 was "Brother, Can You Spare a Dime?" by Bing Crosby.
- The stock market didn't return to pre-depression levels until 1954.
-  By 1940, 2.5 million people had fled the Great Plains. Roughly 200,000 moved to California.

- Most farm families did not flee the Dust Bowl.
- The swirling dust proved deadly.
-  The Dust Bowl was both a manmade and natural disaster.

- Okie is a resident or native of Oklahoma
- Were refugee farm families from the Southern Plains who migrated to California in the 1930s to escape the ruin of the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl.

- John Steinbeck wrote "The Grapes of Wrath" and "Of Mice and Men" about the lives of these people and the devastating effects of the Dust Bowl.

#11 your small group novel ...should it stay as one of the ENG 4C1 4th R novels?

I believe this book should stay in the 4th R novels because it not only teaches how to deal with situations of mental illness but also raises awareness of mental illness in teens. The book can be seen to encourage kids to get help because the ending is good and the kids will believe they can go back to living life normal like Craig did.

#10 the end of your small group novel

Appropriate, because the main character; Craig discovers new energy to live life and not let his past miserable life continue him on a path that only is destroying him.

#9 Your Small Group Novel News Story

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/elise-jamison/this-is-what-depression-l_b_6830810.html
This link is directly towards depression in teens, that is what Craig had to deal with. That is the main focus point of the book.

#8 Group Novel first half

Memorable moment from the first half of the group novel was when Craig was first notified of his mental illness, this had occurred when he went onto the top of the Brooklyn Bridge. He started to become insane and just walked on top looking at traffic before. No normal person would do that..

#7 your small group novel...the first 1/4

My small group novel is "It's Kind of a Funny Story" and it has been a very interesting read so far and I am very engaged in the book and the main character in the book is my age and I believe that this is helping me relate more towards the story and it keeps me wanting to know what is happening next. I am happy i chose this book, as i am still happy with the book and I am unclear with how the other books would have kept my attention and how much i would have enjoyed it. I defiantly picked the right book as my #1 in my opinion. This story line kind of confused me at the start as it jumped from present to past but I understand what is happening now and it is a story line that is hard to predict as you never know what is going to happen next. Yes i believe teens could relate to this story because I've heard stories of depression through kids from high school and mental health is big issue in today's world and is growing each day, so i'm sure many teens could relate to this story.

#6 the vaccination question

I believe taking action to this is very important and a good idea, but to suspend the kids I believe is unfair. It is unfair because the kids didn't have a choice to decide if they wanted to get the vaccinations or not to. I believe the parents should be fined a certain amount of money until they get their children the vaccinations rather than taking the children out of school entirely. I'm not saying to suspend the kids is a bad idea and it shouldn't happen, because I wouldn't want my children to be around kids who aren't vaccinated. I am saying there is a better approach at this because suspending kids from school can effect their entire careers.

#5 Mental health in schools...

I believe Mental health should be more present in schools
- why? it is becoming a big problem in schools and is becoming a big deal in our world
- when? it should be presented at a earlier age than it is being presented now. i believe sometime in elementary school
- where? gym class, because mental health is just as important as your physical health
- how? Make it mandatory in the school curriculum

#4 Samung reveals potential for smart TVs to eavesdrop

I believe that this isn't a very significant problem but it can be a problem determining the circumstances. If the TV hears conversation in the average household then it really isn't a big deal because that information is usually pointless but it can be a problem if that household is giving information to others that is strictly private and about email or banking information. Also this can be a huge problem if say there is a SmartTV located in a governmental office or a meeting room because then the third party could find out crazy information that is very private and secreted.

The mental health crisis on campus - 10 facts

- Janis Whitlock found 7.5 per cent of students who started university with no history of mental illness developed some symptoms.
About five per cent who did have a previous history of mental illness saw symptoms increase while at university.
After motor vehicle accidents, suicide is the leading cause of death in Canadians aged 10 to 24
In July, the unemployment rate for Canadians aged 15 to 29 was nearly 12 per cent
found that 15 per cent of students had cut, burned or otherwise injured themselves.
Of 525 respondents, 20 per cent said they’d used stimulants non-medically at least once in their lifetimes
About 51 per cent reported that, within the past 12 months, they’d “felt things were hopeless.”
- Children are put in Summer school to focus on getting the best grades possible rather than going to work
- Older women say they wouldn't trade their lives to become young again
- A mental health issue can peak on their first years alone

#2 your 4th R small group novel

The reason I chose the group novel "It's kind of a Funny Story" was because it seemed like a type of book that I would be interested in. Also I don't know a lot of information on the topic depression and I feel that reading this book would teach me many new things about depression that I was not familiar with prior to reading it. I am looking forward to reading this book.

#1 - A goal

In this class I would like to achieve a goal of a final mark above 80%. I also hope this class improves my oral communication in front of an audience. Also I would like to find out what books I am interested in because as of right now I don't know what books I enjoy.
